Application Process

Please carefully review the following information before submitting the application and note the following dates for the application process.

  • Jan 18, 2018 – Fall admission due date
  • Jan 24, 2018 – Interview candidate announcement
  • Jan 27, 2018 – Candidate interview date
  • Jan 31, 2018 – Admission decision announcement
  • Feb 1 – Feb 4, 2018 – Enrollment confirmation and deposit period

On-line application: Applicants need to submit an online application and pay the application fee by Jan 18, 2018.
Off-line application: Alternatively, you can download the application form and email the complete application and supporting documents to cie@kmitl.ac.th. Please allow 3-5 business days for application processing. Our staff will contact you regarding the application fee processing.

After the admissions office has reviewed the applications, applicants who are eligible for the interview will be notified and announced. The interview will take place on Jan 27, 2018 at Truelab@Ladkrabang, 1st floor, E12 building, Faculty of Engineering, KMITL.

The admission decision will be announced on CIE website by Jan 31, 2018. The candidates must confirm their enrollment by depositing the first-semester tuition during Feb 1 – Feb 4, 2018.

Admission is based upon a student’s overall academic backgrounds, test scores, academic transcripts, personal statement and recommendation letters but not upon financial need. All decisions are final.

Standardized Tests

Please upload the score report online and have the original documents available during the interview.
Applicants should submit test results from at least one of the following standardized tests.

1. SAT

For SAT, our Designated Institution (DI) code is 7803. We recommend the applicants to submit scores for the following tests:

  • SAT: recommended score is 1100 (out of 1600) for new SAT, or at least 1600 (out of 2400) for old SAT
  • SAT Subject tests (optional): Math Level II; and Physics or Chemistry

or 2. ACT

Recommended composite score is at least 23.

or 3. International Baccalaureate (IB)

Recommended IB Diploma Programme (predicted) points score is at least 29 points. Students should have at least 4 in Mathematics or Physics. Special consideration will be given for students taken STEM-related courses, computer science, and design technology.

or 4. National higher education or board exam results

Students may submit other national or board exam results for consideration (including GAT/PAT, IGCSE, GCE A-Level, Gaokao, or equivalent). Thai students may submit scores from GAT and PAT1 and/or PAT3


English Proficiency Test

Please upload the score report online and have the original documents available during the interview.
Applicants should submit test results from at least one of the following standardized tests.

1. TOEFL

For TOEFL, our Designated Institution (DI) code is B658. Minimum score for TOEFL is 79 for internet-based test (iBT), 550 for paper-based test(PBT) or 213 for computer-based test (CBT).

or 2. IELTS

Minimum score for IELTS is 6.

or 3. IB

The minimum score is 4 for English A1 or A2 (HL or SL) or 5 for English B (HL).

or English as a Second Language (ESL) option

If the applicant cannot fulfill the above requirement, he or she will be required to enroll in additional ESL courses at KMITL (additional fees may apply)


Supplemental Documents

Please upload the following documents online and have the original documents available during the interview.

1. Personal Statement

Please submit an essay (650 words or fewer) that demonstrates your ability to communicate your thoughts, your related experience in the field of study and indicates your reasons to pursue CIE program.

2. High School/Secondary School Transcript

It’s important that the name used in your application, recommendations and test scores is identical to the name listed on your passport or national ID card. This will eliminate any confusion in the processing of your application.
If your secondary school transcript or any other admission document is written in a language other than English or Thai, it should be accompanied by an official translation and verified by a counselor or school official to be true copies of the original.

3. Letters of Recommendation

You must submit two letters of recommendation. Letters of recommendation are extremely important. All letters should be written by teachers or supervisors under whom you have studied or by someone who has supervised you in work related to the field of study. The letters should be written in English if possible. If they are not, an original English translation must be provided.

4. Portfolios/Achievements (optional)

You are encouraged to provide us with a link to any online content that tells us more about yourself, demonstrates a particular talent you possess or highlights an activity in which you participated. Some ideas include linking to an online video you created, a portfolio with relevant activities, business model or developed devices/software.

5. Placement Test Results (optional)

If you are preparing for the Advanced Placement (AP), International Baccalaureate Higher Level (IB-HL) or General Certificate of Education (GCE) A-level examinations, please send your exam results after completing the test to process placement credits. We recommend our candidates to take AP Computer Science A/Principles and AP Calculus BC or equivalent exams. The policy and criteria for placement credits will be determined prior to the applicant’s enrollment.


Scholarships and Grants

An applicant with excellent academic performance and significant achievements along with demonstrated leadership may be eligible for full or partial tuition fee-waver. The applicant must indicate his/her interest in the application. Faculty of Engineering, KMITL reserves the right to determine the eligibility of the applicant.


Application Fee

Please note that a non-refundable application fee is required of all applicants. Once you have submitted your application, please check the application status to print the pay-in slip and deposit the application fee via designated bank counters. The admissions office will review your application only after the application fee has been processed.
For international applicants: please contact our admissions office regarding the processing of application fee.


Tuition Fee

The tuition fee for Academic Year 2017-2018 is 150,000 THB per semester. If you get accepted and intend to enroll, you must submit the full tuition fee by the end of the enrollment confirmation period. Admitted students with financial inability to pay the full tuition must contact our office prior to the deadline.


Online Submission Policy

Please DO NOT mail ANY paper documents to the admissions office prior to being asked to do so. This includes official transcripts, SAT, GAT/PAT, TOEFL or IELTS score reports, resumé/CV, publications, financial documents, or certificates. If you have publications that you would like the admissions committee to review, please link to them in the multimedia information of the online application. Applicants may bring additional hard copy materials for the interview.

Also, please note that we will not accept any application material submitted by third party or consulting companies. It is expected that each applicant will complete his or her own application. Exceptions to this policy include application material submitted by a fellowship/scholarship organization, or standardized test organizations (including NIETS, IBO, Cambridge International Examinations, CollegeBoard or ETS.)
